CTCSS/squelch settings have been changed due to an RFI problem within the Town of Chalmers power grid so a stronger tone/signal strength is now needed to access the repeater. The settings will be returned to normal once our RFI issue is solved.
05/15/2010 - *****REPEATER UPDATE***** As of 05/07/2010 the RFI issue appears to have been solved and the repeater is back to it's normal operating mode.
Welcome to the KC9PQA repeater site. This repeater is operated by White County Skywarn and the White County Amateur Radio Society. WCARS was founded in April 2009 by Bob Aldrich, N9RLA and Mike Marcussen, KC9OUP.
The club was created in order to increase amateur radio awareness and the amount of 2 meter and general ham activity in White County Indiana and also to provide fellowship among the ham community residing in our county.
Repeater Info and Coverage
(Join us for Field Day on June 26 - 27 2010 at the White County 4-H Fairgrounds in Reynolds, IN)
Our KC9PQA 2 meter repeater (a generous donation from Ray Allie, WA9RAY) is atop the Chalmers water tower located beside the Frontier High School on the north east side of Chalmers at a height of approximately 160ft with an estimated range of 45 miles or more based on actual QSO's. At this height, White County will have total 2 meter repeater coverage as well as moderate coverage within the neighboring counties of Carroll, Cass, Pulaski, Jasper and Tippecanoe. The repeater also has Echolink capability so that worldwide communication is available through your HT, mobile or base 2 meter station. The KC9PQA repeater can be found on 147.255+ PL 131.8 and will be an open repeater. This 2 meter repeater pair is coordinated through the Indiana Repeater Council.
